Mangaluru: Two Destitute Children Rescued from Falnir and Bunder by Childline

 

Mangaluru: In two separate cases, the Childline 1098 team from the city rescued two children who were found roaming around unaccompanied in Falnir and Bunder on Wednesday. They have been referred to the district’s child welfare committee for rehabilitation.

A 17-year-old boy was found alone near Indira hospital in Falnir. He hails from Mysuru and had left home without informing the parents. Passersby called helpline 1098 and informed the Childline team.

A 13-year-old girl was found travelling alone from Goa, claiming to be going to her mother’s house in Bengaluru. In the interest of her safety, a passenger travelling to Mangaluru made her alight in the city and referred to the Bunder police.

She too was rescued by the Childline team. Director Renny D’Souza, coordinator Sampat Katti and Revati Hosabettu took part in the operations.
