Mangaluru: Miscreants broke into the office premises of the Bajpe church on Wednesday night and rummaged the cupboards for valuables.
They appeared to have first broken open the headmaster’s office in the parochial school. On Thursday morning, the files were found splashed all over. Having found nothing valuable, they broke open the door of the Ashara Dasoha and then the rear window of the church office.
When the church office was being broken open, the noise woke up the assistant priest who lives upstairs. When he opened the window to chack what had happened, the culprits are said to have fled the spot.
The Bajpe church location is the junction where roads from Kaikamba through Sunkadakatte and Pope John Paul Nagar, from Kinnigoli via Kateel and Permude, and from Mangaluru via Kavoor and Kenjar meet. The residents of Bajpe town have demanded installation of CCTV cameras at this point.
The same night, thieves broke into a rented house of an employee of the OMPL (ONGC-MRPL Petrochemicals Ltd) and made away with a laptop.
