Mangaluru: Vocational Training for Long-serving Jail Inmates – DC’s Directive

Mangaluru: District magistrate and deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim on Friday visited the district sub-jail in Kodialbail and took part in the meeting of the board of visitors.

He instructed the jail authorities to make arrangements to impart vocational training to long-term inmates. It is thought that such training would help them to rehabilitate themselves after their release.

He issued many other directives like expeditious installation of mobile jammer on the premises, supply of pure potable water under city corporation’s supervision and maintenance of hygiene in the kitchen.

He also told the officials to produce the inmates in court strictly according to the schedule and ensure that non-appearance of any inmate in the court more than three times.

He suggested that in as many cases when they accused had to be produced in courts outside the district, video conferencing be arranged and also that video conferencing be introduced in all courts in the city.

City mayor Jacintha Alfred, MCC commissioner Dr Goplalakrishna, additional SP Vincent Shantakumar, Bantwal ASP Rahul Kumar, city central ACP Kalyan Shetty, jail superintendent Obaleshappa and others were present during the visit.
