Mangaluru: The district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai held a press meet at the Dakshina Kannada District Congress Office here, on November 24.

Addressing the mediapersons, Mithun Rai said, “We, the intellectuals of Dakshina Kannada, should not give any scope to hate speeches which political leaders use for vote bank. Such speeches will only lead to communal violence. Dakshina Kannada is very famous for the wrong reasons and some people, for their political gain, mislead the youth. Such leaders should be barred from delivering speeches.”

Alleging the double standards of the opposition, Mithun said, “When Prashant Poojary was murdered the members of the Sangh Parivar demanded that the culprits be arrested within 24 hours of the murder. But when Harish Poojary was murdered, the same Sangh Parivar did not raise their voices for the arrest of the murderers. Why the double standard? Did Harish not belong to the Hindu community? Is he not a Hindu? Then why this silence?”

Mithun further said that the Congress party had already handed over a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to the family members of Harish and assured to help the family through funds collected from the Congress party workers. “The Youth Congress members have also handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 to Harish’s family. In Prashant murder case, the Sangh Parivar had demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh and demanded for the arrest of the accused only because he was a member of the Sangh Parivar. But Harish Poojary was neither involved in politics nor was he a member of any organization.”

Mithun also said, “Today, Harish Poojary, the sole bread winner of his family, is the victim of enmity, anger, revenge and hatred. Tomorrow, our own children will be the victims of such sickness. We should eliminate the anger, revenge and hatred between communities from the minds of the youth. It is our duty to see that untoward incidents do not occur again in the district. We are not targeting any organizations but we want the people in the district to live with peace and harmony. We have to stop the communal violence in the district and make it, a better place to live in.”

Corporators Praveenchandra Alva, Vinayraj and others were also present.

  1. Was Harish Poojary Not a Hindu? Why is Sangh Parivar Silent now? – Mithun Rai

    Dear readers,

Even Mahatma Gandhi is practicing Hindu. But still he was silenced by the Sangh Parivar. PM Modi is saying ‘Toilets before temple’.But Godse followers are stone laying temple in his ‘Tribute’.

Whoever sceptical and criticized the Modi’s government will see the same end of Late Harish as long as it serves their political motives.

Unfortunately our elected MP from Mangalore who blamed for ruling congress government for the death is nowhere to be seen. Will he demand the compensation from government or extend a 2.5 crores cheque to deceased parents to be seen.

    Jai hind
