Mangaluru: Woman Loses 6-and-a-half Sovereign Chain to Snatcher on Vithoba Road

Mangaluru: It is a baffling but definitely a sad situation that women continue to wear expensive jewellery while walking unaccompanied by male family-members, especially at secluded place or at night. This has been happening every now and then, in spite of reports and caution in the media.

Shobha, a resident of the city, had visited the City Centre mall with her daughter and was returning home on Saturday night around 10, walking along Vithoba road. A young man blocked her way at a curve and snatched her gold chain of six and a half sovereign. He is said to have fled in a getaway two-wheeler in which a friend of his was waiting.

A case been registered in the north police station in Bunder.
