Mangaluru: Dr Edmond Fernandes from Yenepoya University’s Dept of Community Medicine leaves to Chennai to respond to the Chennai floods to provide medical relief through the ground efforts of Help Age India.

Help Age India has been one among the fastest responders to the Chennai flood situation and they have added medical relief operations considering the flood situation that has displaced multitudes and created a panic situation in healthcare too. Help age India through this mission and assistance of Dr Edmond and other doctors, will hope to treat more than 10,000 victims in the next one week. Mobile Van have been allotted for this mission which will cover different areas, near and far. To prevent and mitigate as much as possible, the water borne diseases that could likely occur post-disaster, all measures are being taken to curb it.

Dr Edmond Fernandes has been working in Disaster Risk Reduction for a long time, and had responded previously to Typhoon Yolanda in The Philippines, he also conducts sessions on Health in humanitarian emergencies to those who wish to build their knowledge and respond to disasters.
