Mangaluru: Youth Survives Attempt on Life with Swords near Highland Hospital

Mangaluru: The rise in instances of crime in the city, during daytime in particular, in the recent times is causing concern.

Close on the heels of an attempt on the lives of two persons on a bike on K S Rao Road last week, a youth from Manjeshwar in Kasaragod district survived an attack on Sunday evening.

Haneef from Manjeshwar had arrived in the city to visit a patient in the hospital. He was assaulted with swords by a group which came in a car.

Haneef stretched his arms and protected himself. He survived with moderate injuries.

In a complaint to the Pandeshwar police Haneef has named Abdul Qader and three others as the culprits. He and Abdul Qader have been acquaintances. Old enmity is said to be behind the attack.

The four persons are said to have trailed him from Manjeshwar up to Mangaluru.
