Manipal: “70% of the sugar factory owners are from the BJP, BS Yeddyurappa should convince them to pay dues to farmers,” said Vinay Kumar Sorake, Minister for Urban Development and Minister in-charge District. He was addressing the mediapersons at a pressmeet after the review meeting at Zilla Panchayat, Udupi here on June 22.
Hitting hard on BS Yeddyurappa’s statement saying that the Congress government has failed to initiate steps to protect the interest of sugarcane growers, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the support price fixed for sugarcane is highest when compared to other states in India. “While the BJP was in power in the state, it did not refer any scam to the CBI but the Congress government has referred 5 cases to the CBI including the financial irregularities in the Urban Development Authority.”
” BS Yeddyurappa has no right to question the functioning of the Congress government because he supported corruption and was even in jail. The ADB scheme was proposed during the SM Krishna government but was later implemented by the government, which failed to review it then but is interested now.”
