Manipal Police arrest Nigerian citizen for overstaying

Udupi: The Manipal police arrested a Nigerian who was overstaying in the country on Monday, October 16.

According to SP Dr Sanjeev M Patil, Raji Raqeeb Babatunde a Nigerian aged 26 years, former student Master of Occupational therapy at Manipal School of allied sciences had arrived in Manipal on August 24, 2011.

However, after his visa expired. Instead of leaving the country, he continued staying in Manipal without applying at the Foreigners Registration Office.

He was arrested on charges of violating visa and passport rules and regulations and staying without authorization in the country. He was produced before the court and sent to judicial custody until October 30.
