Karwar: Eight persons were injured in a collision between a police jeep and a car on NH 63 near Belageri in Yallapur taluk of Uttar Kannada district on Tuesday evening.
The police jeep was on its way back taking Ananda, one of the accused in the Manipal sexual assault case, to Dharwad central jail, after a court hearing in Udupi.
Personnel from the Dharwad district armed reserve (DAR) police were escorting him. All of them were injured in the mishap.
The car was proceeding from Dandeli to Yallapur. Arshad Sheikh, Rizwan Sheikh and Dadapeer Mulla, who were in the car, were injured.
