Manipal University bids farewell to Annamalai

Manipal: Manipal University on Wednesday bid farewell to Superintendent of Police, K Annamalai who has been transferred to Chikkamagaluru district following a three-year tenure in Udupi. He is an upright and honest officer who has won the hearts of everyone in the district and the University in particular. Students liked him despite the strict measures he enforced to bring about discipline. His support was of tremendous help to the University. He was felicitated on the occasion.

Pro-Chancellor, Dr H S Ballal gave a few instances of the initiative taken by Annamalai, unheard of in the district before. He praised the police officer for all what he has done to improve law and order. “The knack in which he handled every issue was laudable,” Dr Ballal said.

“Udupi’s loss is Chikkamagaluru’s gain,” said Vice Chancellor, Dr H Vinod Bhat. He added, “This district has never had such an officer before. He is honest and upright and young. He has a long way to go and his virtues will hold him in good stead in the long run”.

Director MIT, Dr G K Prabhu recalled his association with MrAnnamalai as a registrar and now in his present position. He gave an instance of his popularity with the students. “If I ask the students, who should be the chief guest for any function, with one voice they would say, Mr Annamalai,” Dr Prabhu said. The SP connected well with the students. They will miss him, he added.

Also speaking on the occasion was, Dr Vinod Nayak, Prof. Forensic Medicine and secretary University Sports Council and Dr Prabhudev B Mane, COO Security Manipal University. Dr Mane spoke as President of Retired Police officers association.

In his reply, Annamalai thanked the University for all support it extended to him during his tenure. “I am glad I had a very good team to work with and the University support went a long way in successfully helping me to implement plans,” he said. He thanked the University for undertaking the responsibility of changing the Manipal Police station. “Work is underway and on completion, I am sure it will be among the best in the world,” the SP said. “I enjoyed working in this district,” he concluded.

  1. Mr Annamalai IPS is an active and an exemplary person. Manipal University did a fantastic job for his farewell. May God bless him and support all his good activities. As Dr Vinod Bhat said Udupi’s loss and Chikmangalru’s gain.
