Manish Malhotra to open LFW Summer-Resort 2016

Mumbai, March 3 (IANS) Renowned designer Manish Malhotra will kick-start the Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Summer-Resort 2016 (LFW) with a glamorous offsite show here on March 29.

Malhotra will be doing the show in association with the mobile brand Jio LYF.

With the grand show, Malhotra, whose creations have been donned by actresses Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sridevi, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone on and off screen, will be celebrating milestones achieved by him in the industry — 25 years as a costume designer and 10 years of his eponymous label.

Known for his unique creative vision and master craftsmanship, Malhotra will once again weave his magic on the runway and role out creations based on the elements of nature.

“This is going to be a special show for me – as it marks the beginning of another decade of my label. Because of my long standing and extremely fruitful relationship with Lakmé Fashion Week, I feel totally at home here,” Malhotra said in a statement.

Post the show, the fashion gala will be held from March 30 to April 3. And Rohit Bal will bring the curtain down of the fashion week.

Malhotra is excited over the show. He said: “I am excited to be doing the Jio LYF show this season. I will be showcasing my new Summer Resort 2016 collection, which is based on elements of nature – air, earth, fire and water.”

Saket Dhankar, vice president and head-fashion, IMG Reliance, says one should “expect an evening of high fashion and glamour”.
