Maoist guerrilla arrested in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Jan 14 (IANS) A Maoist guerrilla carrying a reward of Rs.5 lakh on his head was arrested in Jharkhand’s Palamau district on Thursday, police said.

According to police, Jagnarayan Yadav alias Vishal ji, a ‘sub-zonal commander’, was arrested from Thekhi village of Palamau district, around 170 km from Ranchi.

Police seized one pistol and live cartridges from the arrested Maoist, who was wanted in more than one dozen criminal cases.

A special operation was launched by police after getting specific intelligence inputs.

Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 22 districts in Jharkhand.
