MCC celebrates Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Birth Anniversary

Mangaluru: Under the able leadership of Mayor Kavitha Sanil, the Birth Anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India was celebrated at the Nehru Maidan here on November 14.

Speaking to mediapersons Mayor Kavitha Sanil said, “Today we are celebrating the birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru dedicated this day for the children and November 14 is also celebrated as Children’s day. Last year we had erected the statue of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, on this ground. Today we have celebrated the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru here along with the students.”

Mayor Kavitha further said, “We are constructing the main entrance of the Nehru Maidan at a cost of Rs 25 lakh and the construction work will begin soon”.

Former mayor Sashidhar Hegde, deputy mayor Rajaneesh Kapikad, Corporators Lancelot Pinto, Sabitha Misquith and others were also present.
