Militant killed in Kashmir gunbattles

Srinagar, Oct 5 (IANS) A militant was killed on Monday as two gunbattles started in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

“One militant was killed in an encounter between the security forces and militants in Darpora today (Monday),” a senior police officer told IANS here.

“Another encounter is going on in the Hafruda forests near the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara.”

“It is being confirmed whether the group of militants engaged in an encounter near the LoC had infiltrated into the Valley yesterday (Sunday) or earlier,” the officer added.
