Missing Japanese woman’s body found in Dhaka

Dhaka, Nov 24 (IANS) Days after she was reported missing, a Japanese woman was found dead in an apartment in Bangladesh capital Dhaka, police said.

A Detective Branch team of Bangladesh Police on Tuesday found the body of the woman who was living in Dhaka for about 10 years, Xinhua reported citing police officials.

The name of the woman was not known immediately, said the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) official, adding that she was missing for a few days.

The official said DMP hoped to provide more details on the issue at a press briefing later in the day.

Last month gunmen shot dead a Japanese man in Bangladesh’s Rangpure district, police said, in the second attack claimed by Islamic State (IS) group jihadists. The Bangladeshi government has denied the claim.
