Moderate quake rocks east Indonesia

Jakarta, June 16 (IANS) An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale rocked eastern Indonesia on Tuesday, an official said.

“The tremors were moderate and it did not cause any damage,” Xinhua quoted a spokesman of Indonesia’s Meteorology and Geophysics Agency as saying.

The quake did not have the potential of triggering a tsunami, the official added.

The epicentre of the quake was 71 km northeast of Sangihe island in North Sulawesi province and its depth was 71 km under seabed.
