Modi has ‘failed abysmally’ to match words with deeds: Sonia

New Delhi (PTI): Buoyed by government retreating on the land ordinance, Congress President Sonia Gandhi today attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying he has been “reduced to unedifying flip flops” and most of his poll promises were nothing more than “hawabaazi” (empty talk).

Giving credit to the campaign by Congress workers against land bill “under active guidance” of Rahul Gandhi for the government climbdown, Gandhi spoke of launching “similar” action against the “assault” on issues like labour reforms, women and child development, RTI and MGNREGA.

She alleged Modi government has “failed abysmally” to match words with deeds, media events with actual accomplishments and headlines with substance.

“The U-turn on the land ordinance is evidence that the government is out of touch with ground realities. It has become painfully clear that most of the pledges made by the Prime Minister during his election campaign were nothing more than hawabaazi,” she said at a meeting of the Congress Working Committee here.

In the first meeting of the CWC since the Prime Minister declared that land ordinance would not be repromulgated, Gandhi said that due to Congress’ sustained campaign, the government has been compelled to withdraw its “anti-farmer” amendments.

“The credit for this goes to every worker of the Congress Party, who under Rahul’s active guidance, carried out a sustained agitation”, Gandhi said, hailing the leadership of the Congress Vice President to the cause of farmers.

She also said that this became possible due to all like minded political parties and all members of civil society who joined hands with Congress in this fight.

Expressing concern over considerable deterioration in the security situation in India’s neighbourhood, she said jawans and civilians are being increasingly targeted. “Instead of a coherent policy on Pakistan, this government can’t seem to make up its mind on what it should do,” she said.

“From aggressively mocking Manmohan Singh and his policy during the election campaign, the Prime Minister has been reduced to unedifying flip-flops, casting doubts on what he really stands for,” she said.

The economy is on a downward slide while prices continue on their unrelenting rise, she said, adding that the Modi Government has “failed abysmally to match words with deeds, to match media events with actual accomplishments, to match headlines with substance.” As for promises such as the creation of jobs or slogans such as Make in India, the less said about them the better, she said.

She also charged the government with “systematically eroding” the autonomy and integrity of vital institutions which have stood the country in good stead.

In an apparent reference to the killing of Govind Pansare and M M Kalburgi, she said writers and progressive thinkers are being physically eliminated.

So…she wanted to see India turn into Singaapura in a year? In a way, it shows how even she had a very high expectations from Sri Modiji. I wonder if she voted for him in 2014!! hee hee…!!

    • So…she wanted to see India turn into Singaapura in a year? – Rampa on Sonia Gandhi

And the BJP RampaNNa’s said they would bring back the black money within 100 days and further, distribute it to all Indians (Original RampaNNA excluded as usual) WITHIN 150 days! Instead, what does our Martial arts expert called Aroona JetLee do? He gets himself done some gastric band surgery!

The BJP Jokers said that the 1 USD would be = 1 Indian Rupee once the BJP came to power. On the contrary, the Indian Rupee is MORE than our Pravaadi Sevaka’s age! I.e., 1 USD = 66.55 IRS! And our Sevaka is ONLY a little LESS than the value of the IRS compared to the USD!

What happened to the Land Bill? Didn’t JetLee predict doom if the Land Bill AND GST wasn’t passed and that too – PRONTO? Instead, what happened? A visit to Silicon Valley (CA) is on the cards for our Pravaadi Sevaka!

I told that to my pet parrot (Kooki) this morning.

She said: Kiti Kiti Koo Koo
      Koo Koo Koooooooooo

      :):)

      • Joker Praveena Pinto has switched from ‘ಡಿಂಕಾ ಡೊ, ಡಿಂಕಾ ಡೊ’ to ‘kiti kiti koo koo’!!
Don’t waste your time in trying to understand what it all means as he is just a random noise making human form known for irrational posts!! Even by his low standards, it’s quite interesting to see how he has been bullied to silence by ‘peaceful’ folks on some of the ‘uncomfortable’ topics!! wink, wink!! smiles….

  2. Dear readers,

Modi’s foreign visits cost Rs 47 cr: RTI

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to 20 countries in one year has cost the exchequer at least Rs 47.42 crore.

    http://www.deccanherald.com/content/499684/modis-foreign-visits-cost-rs.html

The amount could rise as some bills are yet to be settled while Indian missions in France, Japan, Sri Lanka and South Korea are refusing to provide details citing various reasons like collection of “scattered” and “voluminous” details would require “disproportionate” allocation of resources.

The Indian Embassy in Washington did not provide details saying it was not readily available with them.

Earlier Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to an RTI application about the amount of money spent on foreign visits made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi since he assumed office on May 26 last year is very disappointing. PMO reply that “Information sought is too vague and wide.”

Modi spent 54 days abroad in his first year of office visiting 18 different countries in five different continents. He visited 12 Asian countries for 28 days followed by two North American countries for nine days. Back home, he toured 17 states in all spending a total of 63 days in domestic travel. In all 24 days out of this was for un-official reasons (election campaigns in Maharashtra and Haryana).

According to the revised budgetary estimates, Modi government in its first year incurred a travel bill of Rs 317 crore – about Rs 59 crore more than the Rs 258 crore the UPA-II cabinet had spent in its last year in office (2013-14).

“Every entry records the names of visitors at the PM’s office but the PMO claims it doesn’t have a record of delegates visiting foreign countries with Modi. This is hard to believe. The PMO must be aware about the tax payers’ money spent and every penny should be accounted for.”

Modi’s foreign trips, expenditure in crores and sufferings of the poor

    http://mattersindia.com/2015/08/14/modis-foreign-trips-expenditure-in-crores-and-sufferings-of-the-poor/

It is unanticipated that Modi spends crores of rupees on his scores of foreign trips when the common people, most important of them the farmers, are suffering. Whatever might be his resolve behind such trips but the people on ground who were hopeful of Modi’s magic are still waiting for the achche din to come!!

    Jai Hind

  3. Shaikh mOHD rizwan: We are going to see the writing on the wall of this big circus undertaken by Mr. Modi since becoming the PM, acted as if a movie star shooting movies around the world shaking hands with the political leaders.

The backbone of the BJP party in Gujarat is the Patel community, especially in the western countries like the U.S. and Europe. Now, they are totally fragmented in their blind loyalty towards Mr. Modi. The Patel community is now demanding a refund of $ 3 million out of the $ 5 million raised for the big time New York BJP movie shooting months back.

This month’s movie shooting at the Silicone valley will not be very fascinating due to the agitation created in the minds of the Patel-Sikh-Muslim and Christian communities. Simply wait and watch the magical show. There was a big article at the Los Angles Times warning about the visit of Mr. Modi written by the U.S. college professors of Indian origin, which was never done earlier while the PM of India was visiting the U.S. Why these turn of events? Indeed, quite mysterious!

    • The Patel community is now demanding a refund of $ 3 million out of the $ 5 million raised for the big time New York BJP movie shooting months back. – Mr. Mathew on the Potels!

Sir, if at all the money is not returned, our Original Rampa Pai will return it for sure! With interest and that too at 18% per annum! After all, as somebody on TOI said – Om NaMo SiVa (The SiVa stands for Stands for Silicon Valley).

After all, who can stop our VOI (Voice Of India) from airing out his stale Dhoklas from lands afar? And if at all there is nobody to listen to HMV (His Majesty’s Voice), he will air it on DooraVaani (or is it, aakashaVaani?).

Some poor 10 dozen farmers will listen to it and get depressed further! (Because they have heard it ALL before in the previous ‘Mann Ki Baat’ epileptic seizures…. I mean…. episodes! The next day, they will ALL commit suicide! (‘Soociding’ as they call it in India). Arnaba Goswami will slate that for the graveyard shift slot (2 – 3 am)! After all, the Sheena Bora case is more important!

Tiring stuff and all in a days work, eh, Rampu?

PS: The local Gujarati Patels got tired of his (Pravaadi Sevakas) stale kohkla Dhoklas, I guess. And they want FRESH Dhoklas along with their cutting Chai! Who will do their Seva (justified or not is another question altogether?).

      Om NaMo SiVa!
      Om ……….

  4. “There was a big article at the Los Angles Times warning about the visit of Mr. Modi written by the U.S. college professors of Indian origin…” – AS Mathew

    Dear Mathew,
Have you even read the article? The same report also says – “The letter was signed by scores of professors, mainly liberal arts scholars and South Asia specialists at universities, including Harvard, Stanford and USC.” LOL LOL Note the key word again, ‘Liberal’ here!! This is same as ‘secular’ in Indian context!! smiles..

Remember, these are the same folks who were ALWAYS critical of Sri Modiji!! In fact, back in 2013, the same group was behind an attempt to cancel Modi’s video conference hosted by Wharton Business school. These ‘scholars’ are citing Aadhar card scheme to blame Modi for attempting digital surveillance in India!! If they were honest enough, they would have admitted out how Aadhar card scheme predates Modiji!!!! He is simply trying to implement it.

For those who are curious, you can find the LA times report using following link:

    • Remember, these are the same folks who were ALWAYS critical of Sri Modiji!! – JokeRampa

The Merriam Webster defines the word ‘Always’ as follows:

      1. at all times

      2. forever

Well, I can’t recall any criticism of the walking monogrammed suitwallah before 2002! So, what are you yammering about ya Rampa?

So, as our beloved KS Bhat so eloquently said, have I “hit the BULL by Horn”? Ahem!

After his ಆಫ್ರಿಕ ಜೀವಿತಂ, he has combined the best from 2 different sayings – “take the bull by its horns” and “hit the nail on the head” and come up with “Hit the BULL by Horn”!

      Gasp.. gasp! Smiles. 🙂

  5. “Well, I can’t recall any criticism of the walking monogrammed suitwallah before 2002!” writes Joker Praveena Pinto

Thank (imaginary) God, you didn’t bring up 1947 or 1856!! LOL Shree Modiji became CM in 2001 for the first time. This is when the fake-secular groups started noticing him. Remember – these ‘scholars’ have limited time. You can’t expect them to attack every Shenava, Urimajalu Raama Bhatta or Kalladka Prabhaakara Bhatta!! They attack only those who are ‘simha swapna’ to fake-secular crowd!!

    • They attack only those who are ‘simha swapna’ to fake-secular crowd!! Joker Rampu

Lol! That so-called 56 inch ತಿಗಲ್ ಸಿಂಹ was nothing but a ಮೂಷಿಕ when he was denied a Visa! Gosh! I wonder how your acid reflux must have acted up! No wonder that you keep prescribing your Rampa Brand of Ajeerna Pills!

      Bte, let me not digress!

Can you explain the “scholars” called Patels who went on a ‘Dharna’.

This is exactly what happens when some Bantwala Rampa who used to read “mohini” stories in Mysooru some 15-20 years back, sits pretty NOW in Cupertino and “looks for BOTH Nalina Kateela and Lobo” when there are potholes on Mangaloorean roads.

If truth be told, a better joke has NEVER been cracked! :):)

Cripes, man Rampa! I’m rolling on the ground.. I’m LMAO… with a REAL bad stitch in my sides! I have to attend Church tomorrow. 🙁 So help me, God! 🙂

ಸಿಂಹ ಸ್ವಪ್ನ…ಕಾಡು ಜೀವಿತಂ…..(remember how the Pravaadi Sevaka dumped his better half and spent some 2+ years in some ಕಾಡು enjoying his ಬ್ಯಾಚಲರ್ ಜೀವಿತಂ.)

Man, Rampa…. you REALLY are something! :):)

      • “…was nothing but a ಮೂಷಿಕ when he was denied a Visa! ” writes joker Praveena Pinto

ಮೂಷಿಕ , uh? The same ಮೂಷಿಕ who went onto throw your congress masters out of power? The same ಮೂಷಿಕ who turned your tourist-prince party into ’44-seats’ party ? LOL Even Doddanna quickly realized the mistake, issued him the visa and invited him for a state-dinner!! You are more embarrassing than ‘fourth-place’ winner mani shankara ayyara!! A clear victim of severe ajeerna and ‘bhagna swapna’ from a ‘rejected visa’ episode!! How sad!
