Moodbidri: Alleged Illicit Relationship Leads to Killing of Senior Man at Moodukonaje

Moodbidri: Guruva (62), a Dalit daily wage-earner from Mugerakala in Moodukonaje near here, was reportedly pushed by two of his relatives into a well on Monday night.

Guruva’s wife had gone to her parental house in Beluvai two weeks earlier. Only his mother, brother-in-law Sadananda (42) and cousin Babu (64) were at home.

On Monday night around 8, they had a heated argument over Guruva had spread the rumours that Babu had illicit relationship with his wife. Out of rage, Sadananda and Babu were about to assault Guruva, who ran out to protect himself. They are said to have chased him over a distance and pushed him into a well.

Since the neighbours did not find Guruva at home, they complained to the police, who later arrested the two culprits.
