Moodbidri: Lorry Knocks down Scooter – Retired Teacher Chandrashekhar Shetty Dies

Moodbidri: Retired teacher Chandrashekhar Shetty (80) died a tragic mishap in front of the post office on the main road here around Thursday noon.

A lorry laden with cement bags, plying towards Karkala, knocked his scooter down. Eyewitnesses said that the wheels of lorry passed on his left foot and he was critically injured. He was taken to a private hospital here but he died soon thereafter.

He originally hailed from Padumane Ninjoor near Bailoor, but later moved to Samagaragundi near Marpadi on the outskirts. He taught Social Science and English at Jain High School here for 26 years, and had also served as the NCC Naval Wing officer.

After retirement, he worked as an LIC representative. Earlier, while in Bailoor, he was the managing trustee of the Kodamanittaya daivasthana.

The town police have registered a case in the matter.
