Moodbidri: Yashodhar Acharya (48) from Kallabettu Drowns at Israeli Seashore

Moodbidri: Reports reaching here late said that Yashodhar Acharya (48), hailing from Kallabettu near here, drowned at a seashore in Israel while clicking photographs with his brother and others.


The day being a holiday, he had gone to the beach with his brother and a few others. A huge wave is said to have splashed over him and dragged him away along with an Israeli national. The coast guards pulled them out.

While the Israeli could be saved, Acharya is said to have died in a hospital.

Acharya was the vice president of the gold workers’ welfare body here and had gone to Israel only four months ago. His mortal remains were flown to India after completion of legal formalities and his final rites were held at Kallabettu on Sunday.

He is survived by his mother, wife and two children.
