Mother and 3-month-old baby die in Car- Truck collision

Kundapur: A woman and her 3-month-old infant were killed and the husband and son injured when the Santro car which they travelling collided head-on with a Container truck on NH 66 at Ottinene near Shiroor here on October 16.

The deceased have been identified as Sara and her daughter Fathima. The injured are Abu Salman (35) and son Mohammed Rafiq, residents of Kundapur.

According to the police, Abu Salman and his family were travelling by their Santro car and they were on their way to Kundapur from Honnavar. At Ottinene, near Shiroor, a Container truck collided head-on with Abu Salman’s car killing Sara and the three-month-old baby on the spot.

Abu Salman and his son Rafiq sustained injuries, they were rushed to the hospital. Since Abu Salman’s wife Sara was from Honnavar, on October 16, Abu Salman along with his family was returning from Sara’s house when the tragic incident occurred.

A case has been registered in Byndoor Police Station.
