MU Mobile Camera Case, CFI Demands CID probe
Mangaluru: The Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a protest in front of the Mangalore University here on September 17, against the accused who was released on bail on September 15, in connection with installing a live mobile camera on the roof of the Ladies toilet in the Mangalore University.
Addressing the mediapersons district president of CFI Athaulla said that the second year MSc Marine Geology student installed a live mobile camera on the roof of the ladies toilet in Mangalore University. The accused Santhosh Acharya was arrested by the police on September 14 but he was released on bail on September 15, which the CFI strongly condemns.
He further said, “The release of the accused will encourage others to commit more of such crimes in the society. Some politicians and powerful people in the district had put pressure on the police to release the accused on bail. The parents of the girl students are worried about their children. The case should be handed over to the CID and the accused should be severely punished”.
If the case will not be handed over to the CID, in the coming days CFI will intensify their protest throughout the entire district.
Later a memorandum was handed over to the police to take strict action against the accused.
