Mysuru: The Narasimharaja police have managed to bust a prostitution racket in north Mysuru. Five arrests were made of which four hailed from Kerala. Six women hailing from Mumbai and Kolkata were rescued in the raid.
On 7 December, police raided Athithi Aradhana Resort in north Mysuru. The resort manager Srivelsan alias Sunil (35) was arrested along with four others. The women, in their 20’s, were sent to a government-supported rehabilitation home.
According to sources, the arrested are Raman Kumar from Mysuru and Srivelsan, Lathif, Suleiman and Bashir from Kerala. The resort belongs to a retired police officer, but was being run by Biju, his tenant from Kerala. The resort was raided five years ago for similar reasons. Nine cellphones, two four-wheelers and Rs 9100 cash was seized by the police.
Inspector Gajendra Prasad said, “The rescued girls are part of a larger network that is operating across the country.Flesh trade operators are taking advantage of the law that doesn’t allow arresting the girls involved.Even girls are misusing the law.” Biju will be nabbed soon, he added. Biju was arrested earlier too.
