Mysuru: Thieves Dig 6-foot Tunnel from Drainage to Loot Jewellery Shop

Mysuru: The Mahadeshwara layout is a well-inhabited part of this city and any activity by the side of any main road cannot go unnoticed.

Thieves who had an eye of Shrihari Jewellers might have been well aware of this and hence did not want to risk being spotted while making a break-in. Therefore they took a bypass by beginning their operation from the drainage.

They avoided entering through the main shutter door and dug a tunnel from the drain towards the shop premises, working their way upwards at an angle. They gained access at a distance of six feet and and made a search. They could not reach any gold stock. But they took away cash and silver ornaments weighing 2 kgs.

When the last report came, the exact amount of total loss was yet to be ascertained. The police from Vijayanagar station are investigating the case. Forensic and canine squads also visited and inspected the premises.
