Freshly baked cookies are a holiday tradition in many homes, mine included.   Since the festive season is just round the corner, thought I would share this quick-n-easy-to make recipe.

These melt-in-the-mouth NANKHATAIS are a hot favorite with the young and old.  Try them, you will love them.


Ingredients:


4 cups flour
2 cups powdered sugar
3 cups ghee or margarine (if you want very white nankhatais use margarine and if you want them creamish use ghee)
Baking powder 1 tsp

Sift the flour and baking powder.  Add powdered sugar and mix thoroughly.   Then add ghee/butter in small quantities till all is incorporated.  Knead all together ensuring that no lumps are formed..  Place small rounds on greased baking trays.


Bake in a preheated oven at moderate temperature (Gas mark 4) for 15 or 20 minutes.

When out from the oven,  remove immediately from the baking tray and transfer to another flat sheet.  Cool completely before storing in containers.  


Storage time : 2-3 weeks
From the above ingredients you can have roughly 140-150 Naankatais.
