National Conference seeks probe into party leader’s murder

Jammu, Dec 21 (IANS) The opposition National Conference (NC) on Monday demanded a probe by a sitting high court judge into the murder of the party’s youth leader in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“We demand a judicial probe into the murder of Ishtiyaq Choudhry of Kalakote by a village defence committee (VDC) member. Truth needs to come out as the murder appears to be a sinister machination to muzzle political dissent,” NC leader Devender Rana said.

Rana said a firearm officially issued in the name of the VDC member was used in the murder.

Choudhary was found dead in Kalakote on Sunday.
