Mangalore: Workshop on Medical Topics Held to Commemorate Late MLA U T Fareed

Mangalore: U T Fareed Foundation in association with Dr  M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy organized a workshop on  Haji U T Fareed Memorial Lecture  in Dr M V Shetty college seminar hall at Vidyanagar in Kavoor here on February 7.

Principal Dr M V Shetty College of Physiotherapy Dr S Ernest Jacob welcomed the gathering.  Secretary of Dr M.V Shetty Memorial Trust Dr M Ramgopal Shetty inaugurated the workshop.  Addressing the gathering Dr Ramgopal said that Haji U T Fareed was a dynamic personality who was an undefeated MLA for four terms with the first term starting way back in 1972.  He emphasized on the importance of women's health in India and role of physiotherapy in improving women's health.

Dr Manjunath Kamath, assistant professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at A.J Institute of Medical Science in his guest  speech said that Dr M V Shetty College held a special place in his life, as the first lecture of his career was for Dr M V Shetty students years back in 2000. He stated the need of improving women's health in India and shared his experience when he was working abroad.

The resource persons for the day were Dr Kamath , Dr Mustafa K, MDS, professor, department of Cranio-Facial surgery, Yenpoya Medical College Hospital and Dr Jalaludin Akbar, Oncology surgeon, Mangalore Institute of Oncology.

The first session was taken by Dr Kamath on the topic of  "Physiotherapy and women's health". The second session was conducted by Dr Mustafa K on the topic of "Temporomandibular Disorders".

The last session was conducted by Dr Jalaludin Akbar on the topic of "Role of physiothereapy in Oncology".
