Mangalore: City south assistant commissioner of police T R Jagannath has said that three investigation teams, led by Pandeshwar inspector Tilakchandra, Bunder inspector Vinay Gaonkar and city crime bureau inspector Venkatesh Prasanna, have been formed to track down the culprit who executed a near-fatal assault on Rahim Uchil, president of the Beary Academy, in the Academy office two days ago.
The investigations would focus on religious matters as well as Rahim's personal dealings. Jagannath promised to provide the media with important information in two days. The footage from the CCTV cameras from the buildings adjacent to the Presidium complex in Attavar are being gathered and studied.
Several other channels are also being pursued, said police sources. Two youngsters, aged between 25 to 30 years, had assaulted Uchil with swords on Thursday around 1-15 pm. They reportedly sped away in two bikes kept in starting mode opposite the Academy office.
In the meantime, Uchil underwent surgery until late Thursday night in the hospital and is now said to be out of danger.
