Beltangady: Theft of Valuables Worth Rs 4 Lakh from Naravi Temple

Beltangady: Miscreants broke into Shri Suryanarayana temple at Naravi in the taluk on Monday night and decamped with valuables worth over Rs 4 lakh.

The act is suspected to have taken place between 9 pm on Monday and 6 am on Tuesday. The main door and the doors of the sanctum sanctorum and archak's room were broken open and silver ornaments of value Rs 88,000 and an assortment of gold ornaments, silver utensils taken away.

Beltangady circle police inspector Bhaskar Rai, forensic experts and canine squads have visited the place. Temple sources said that only about a year ago, Brahmakalashotsava had been held at a cost of over Rs 1 crore, during which devotees might have donated various items of god and silverware.
