Sullia: As powerful thunderstorm blew, a giant tree fell on a house in Pallodi near Panja in the taluk on Sunday evening.

The members of the household had a lucky escape. The house belongs to Pallodi Sundari. The tree landed right in the middle of the house, with the roof and walls crashing to the ground. Yet, Sundari, her relative Prema, Prema's daughter Devaki, Devaki's  children Mamata, Nandita and eight-month-old Kumar, besides a neighbour Jagadish, were in the house.

As soon as the tree fell, Jagadish, with remarkable presence of mind, is said to have brought everyone out and saved everyone from getting killed. All of them escaped with minor injuries.
