Mangalore: First All India Literary, Cultural Convention to be held on Aug 23

Mangalore: Sneha Yuva Saanskritika Sangha honorary secretary M Ranjith, speaking to mediapersons in the press club here on Thursday, June 14, said that the 'Kannada Literature and Cultural Convention - 2012' will be held in the Padmavati Teerta auditorium at Mantralaya in Andhra Pradesh on August 23.

He said that Vidvan Bandagadde Nagaraj from Mangalore has been chosen as is convener. He has written over fifty books. The convention will be inaugurated by Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor. Mumbai Kannada Sangha president Dr G D Joshi will be the special guest.

A workshop on 'Kannada Manassu mattu Sahitya', followed by a womens' meet on 'Women and Literature' and 'Kavi Kavya Gayana' programme led by K V Raman will be held. Some distuinguished achievers from the state will be honoured.

As part of the cultural programme, Dollu Kunita, Veeragaase, Kamsale and other folk art-formes  will be presented.  Ratika Nrityakala Kendra of Dharwad and Kadri Nrityabharati Kala Kendra will present a dance each. Dr R T Prabha and team of children will also present a dance. he added.

He informed that Boluvoor cultural team president Chidananda Kamath, businessman and social worker Ramesh Krishna Shet, Ranjitha Virajpet, and Sumasaurabha editor M G Rao will be present.

Dharmadarshi Harikrishna Punaroor, Ramesh Krishna Shet, M G Rao and Somashekar were present at the media meet.
