Mulki: At a general meeting of the town panchayat council held on Friday, it was decided not to issue a no-objection certificate to setting up of a methanol storage tank in the industrial estate in Karnad near here.

In view of the toxic nature of the material intended to be stored and also of the functioning of many other industries and presence of large number of residences around, it was decided not to allow Aseem Resins and Chemicals of Mangalore to set up its storage tank.

The decision was taken after a long discussion.
