Sullia: The case of a husband and wife seeking a divorce took a curious turn in the court compound here on Monday. The man from Beedigudde in the taluk and the woman from Madikeri, who had been married for some years, had come to a conclusion that they were not compatible. Hence they decided to go for a legal separation and applied to the court here.

After submission in the court on Monday, as they were walking out, they got into an argument regarding the statements made in the court. They went 'physical' in a different angle. In a fit of anger, the woman slapped the soon-to-be-separated husband.

The insult received in the glaring presence of the public and the lawyers was not taken kindly by the man. He too pushed her around and assaulted her. It provided a small diversion for those who had the stress and strain of court proceedings. But soon a few lawyers 'separated' them, from fighting, that is, and ensured law and order.
