Bangalore, June 25 (IANS) Global software major Infosys Ltd expanded its operations in Japan by opening its second office at Nagoya to enhance its footprint in the Chubu manufacturing hub, the IT bellwether said Monday.

"Opening our office in Nagoya is part of our expansion plan, as we look at targetting the manufacturing industry in Japan. We have seen strong business growth since we entered Japan in 1997 with about 40 clients across manufacturing, financial services and consumer goods," Infosys chief executive S.D. Shibulal said in a statement here.

The company has about 1,000 employees in Japan working on different client projects.

Though the US and Europe account for over 85 percent of Infosys' software export revenue, rest of the world, including Japan, contribute around 12 percent.

"With our client base in Nagoya and Tokai region increasing substantially during the last two years, the new office will focus on their (clients) requirements and target new business. We see opportunity to support the global and regional supply chains of our clients and contribute to their software requirements," company's Japan operations head V. Sriram said.
