Udupi: "In the recently held election to Vidhana Parishath Constituency - the ruling BJP Party workers and also their leaders have misused the administrative machinery. The voters were unethically threatened for votes", said KK Manjunath, Independent Candidate of South West Teachers Constituency . He was speaking with the media persons here at the press club on Tuesday June 26, 2012.
"I am not worried for having been lost in the elections for Teachers' Constituency as an Independent Candidate. By losing the election by a narrow margin, I think I have actually won. During the election, BJP Party Workers and leaders irked the voters beyond toleration, and this is criminal offence. BJP being in power in the State now has been the reason for my defeat, but yet I am obliged to the teacher voters and for those who have encouraged me. In future I will work for the consolidation of Teachers", he said
" Money was distributed to the Teacher voters during the election, in Madikeri and certain other places there had been instances where the teachers were physically assaulted. Also, there are sadly certain instances where teachers those who encouraged me in the election were transferred by the BJP Party. I have lost the election by a narrow margin (3,400 : 3,693), against Karnik. This was possible because I have been into service as a Teacher for 17 years", said KK Manjunath, Independent Candidate in the elections held recently to Vidhana Parishath. |
