Mangalore: 'Say No To Drugs' - A Strong Message from Barke Police

Mangalore:  Barke Police Station held a Anti Drug Programme, "Say No to Drugs", as part of the local fight against drug abuse among young people, at the Narayana Guru College, here on June 27,

Ananth Prabhu, Asst. Professor & Software Engineer and Dr. Muralidhar from KMC were the resource persons.

Sub Inspector of Barke Police station, Poovappa, organized the programme along with his team. Addressing the students Poovappa  said, "Anti-drug workshops and awareness initiatives would be organised by coordinating with schools and other institutions".

He also briefed on the harmful effects of drugs and how it affects the physical, social and intellectual life of a human being.  The main agenda of the programme was,  "Our youth must be made aware of the harmful effects and consequences associated with the choices they make. Drugs touch most of our lives in one way or another, he said. 

It was an opportunity for members of the police force and for some members of the young and old generation, who have participated in the programme to mingle with the children on an informal basis and from their wealth of experience offer guidance to the young people. There was a informal quiz held for the students. 

All the students who attended the programme pledged not to take drugs, smoke cigarettes or consume alcohol in their life.  Ananth Prabhu addressing the students briefed about drug consumption and how to come out and refrain from using drugs.  He also suggested the spiritual method of getting in the same kick.
