Manipal: Astro Mohan, senior photojournalist of Udayavani, has bagged the first prize in an international-level photography competition held by Nikon in United Kingdom, for his photograph "Karavali Kambala".
Nikon, being in the forefront in World Photography field, holds competition every month on new subjects. This time it had organized a competition based on the theme ' Movement'.
Entries from different countries had been submitted for the competitions. Five pictures out of them had been shortlisted and displayed in the Internet for viewers' voting.
Astro Mohan's picture on "Karavali Kambala" (buffalo or bullock race or sport in the villages) scored higher votes and earned international-level prize for it.
Paul Bellow's Flavin Hot, Samantha Grover's Bolivian Walk, Lisa O Mohone's Big Wheel and Myke Hudson's Painting Pinches earned the runners-up prize.
The Nikon team, while analyzing Astro Mohan's Bullock Race, was appreciative of the mindset of the racer who runs the bullocks, and the water that gets splashed when the bullocks are in the flight, remarked, "Well done !" |
