Manipal: Anti-Malaria Month 2012 Observed at Rajatadri

Manipal : The Udupi zilla panachayat, district health and family welfare department, Udupi city municipal council jointly observed the 'Anti-Malaria Month 2012'  in Atal Behari Vajpayee auditorium in the DC office complex Rajatadri here in Manipal.

Udupi ZP president Katapady Shanker Poojary inaugurating the event said, "The drive against Malaria in the district is being observed on a war-footing, and it will continue to be so.  We need to take precautionary measures for seeing to it that water does not get stagnant around our homes and in the vicinity.  About 190 incidences having been detected till June, the public have to be very careful about it”.

DVBDC officer Dr Ashok in his Introductory remarks said, "About 190 instances having been found in last June, in the purview of Udupi municipality. These instances are more found in the construction workers, especially the coolie class.  The health department, having formed 8 teams, is trying to identify the cases simultaneously while creating awareness amongst the people”.

Municipal president Kiran Kuma presided over the function. ZP vice president Jyothi Seetharam Shetty, municipal vice president Bharathi Chandrashekar, commissioner Gokuldas Nayak, additional deputy commissioner Kumar, DHO Dr Ramchandra Bairy and district information officer Junjanna were present on the occasion.
