Mangalore: Pedestrian Knocked down by Pickup Vehicle, Dies on Spot

Mangalore: Bhujanga (35), a pedestrian, was knocked down by a speeding pick-up vehicle at Adyarkatte on the outskirts of the city on Thursday afternoon. With the force of knockdown, he is said to have been thrown away to a distance of 10 metres. He died on the spot.

The pickup, belonging to a private firm, was on a sales trip to B C Road. A salesman travelling in it has been injured and hospitalized, while the driver, Hameed, is said to have fled the scene.

Bhujanga, son of the late Mundappa Poojary of Adyar Bailakodi, was the fourth in a family of two males and three females. His sisters keep rolling bidis at home. Bhujanga was on his way to the collection centre to deliver rolled bidis.
