Mangalore: Dr Norbert Lobo, associate professor of Economics at St Aloysius College (Autonomous) has been elected president of Association of Mangalore University College Teachers (AMUCT). At a recent meeting of AMUCT members, he was elected unanimously for a two-year tenure.
He has been teaching at SAC over the past two decades. He has also served as editor of the AMUCT bulletin.

Aboout Dr Norbert Lobo
Serving as associate professor in Economics and course coordinator for MA course in Applied Economics, Dr Lobo secured Ph D for his desertion 'Pattern of Rural-to-urban Migration: a Case Study of Dakshina Kannada District' in 2002. He obtained M Phil in Economics in first class with distinction in 1991 for his dissertation 'Rural Unemployment in India - a Review of Literature'. He passed MA in Economics, securing third rank. He also holds Master of Human Resources Management from Pondicherry University, having passed in first class.
Dr Lobo has attended a number of courses, seminars and conferences and an international convention. He has authored several books, most of them textbooks. He has also written a few books or research in Kannada. He has also edited bulletins and books, besides presenting many papers at conferences and seminars and delivering guest lectures. He is being invited by various institutions to give talks on career guidance and he writes columns too on the subject.
Dr Lobo is well-versed in English, Kannada, Tulu, Hindi and Konkani. |
