Udupi: The Udupi District Badminton Association will  be  organizing under the aegis of The Karnataka Badminton Association, the  5-star State Ranking Badminton Championships at Udupi Indoor Stadium from July 8 to 14, said Raghupathi Bhat, president of Udupi District Badminton Association. He was speaking with media persons here at press club on Friday July 6, 2012.

The seven-day meet is expected to attract top ranked players in the state. The competitions will be U-13, 15, 17, 19, men, women and veteran events spread in 14 categories.

As many as 1000 players are likely to take part in the seven-day meet which carries the highest prize money. Apart from the winners and runners-up of respective categories, the losing semifinalist too will be considered for the prize money. . The tournament would be held in singles and doubles categories. International fame Indian badminton player Prakash Padukone will take part in the concluding ceremony, Bhat said.
