Mangalore: Applications from three colleges namely St. Aloysius College, A.J Shetty Institute of management, and Srinivas Institute of Management seeking permissions to start Ph.D courses in Management or Business Management at their premises have been rejected by Mangalore University.

Mangalore University has also refused to permit the Government First Grade College, Vittal, who were planning to start a Post Graduate course in Commerce and any B.Sc. course in 2012-2013.

The various reasons not to grant permission to these colleges to start new courses which were decided by the Mangalore University Board, among them included lack of proper facilities pertaining to the course, books and journals in the college library were not focused on research in management area and the data bases were not sufficient for research activities, research papers were not published in reputed and referred journals, inadequate physical infrastructure facilities and books in college libraries for research.
