Manipal, July 12: A 3-day workshop on “Getting Started with MATLAB and SIMULINK” – GSMS-2012 was inaugurated by Dr. H. Vinod Bhat, Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal University at the AC seminar Hall of MIT. here on Thursday. In his Inaugural address, Dr. Bhat stressed the need for such conferences, which provide platform for researchers and faculty members to exchange their views.
He appreciated the efforts of the department to have a laboratory-oriented workshop, which is the first its kind. “Mathematics has greater contribution for the development in new technology. With this view Manipal University is planning to open a research center to study pure Mathematics in the near future,” he added.
Dr.Vinod Thomas, Director, MIT Manipal, in his presidential address gave his views about the workshop. “MATLAB is an important tool for engineers, mathematicians and researchers to understand the geometrical interpretations of practical situations and solve the problems,” he said and congratulated the faculty members of the departments of Mathematics and Electrical Engineering for jointly organizing the event and encouraged them to conduct many more workshops and conferences in inter disciplinary subjects also.
Dr Sesappa Rai, HOD Mathematics and Convener of the workshop, welcomed the gathering while DR.Ciji Pearl Kurian, Professor of electrical engineering and organizing secretary, briefed about the workshop. Dr.Ravi Shankar Bhat S, Associate professor, Department of Mathematics and the organizing secretary, presented the Vote of Thanks. Mrs Indira K.P, performed the Master of Ceremony. |
