Mangalore: Shashikala (55), assistant postmaster at the Lee Well post office in Bolar, passed away in a hospital on Thursday, July 12, succumbing to the injuries she had sustained in a road mishap earlier this week.

The bike that her son Sudhir was riding with her on the pillion had skidded near the Cascia school on Tuesday and she had been severely injured in the forehead, as she fell on the ground. A case has been registered in the traffic east police station.

She was working as assistant postmaster in the head post office here and had been transferred to Lee Well office only two months earlier. She is survived by three sons and a daughter.
