Beltahngady: A brawl between a group later turned into a communal disturbance in Belthangady. According to police information four people have been arrested in this connection, they are Abdul Hamid, Mohammad Tajuddin, Usman and Javed Iqbal.

Students Federation of India and the Social Democratic Party of India held demonstrations after the arrests were made, alleging discrimination against Muslims. Life  and business in and around Belthangady has been normal, with no untoward incidents reported.
