Beltangady: Suspected Naxals were spotted in a few villages, mainly the far-end village of Shishila, earlier this week. Hence the anti-Naxal force has intensified the combing operation in the taluk.

The force has been concentrating on Hatyadka, Arasinamakki, Shishila and Shibaje. They are also operating in the Miyar reserved forest, besides Kayartadka and Neria. It has been guessed that the Naxals might have exited through the Shishila-Holegundi-Bhairapura route, but there is no clear evidence.

The ANF sources have indicated that the operations would continue for a few more days.
