Mangalore: In separate instances, the lifeguards at the Panambur beach saves the lives of two youngsters from Bangalore on Saturday, July 14.

One of them is Saijit, who was among a group of 150 staff-members of the Whitefield hospital, Bangalore and their families. While the adults were clustered together, the children were playing on their own. Saijit and others were playing in water. He suddenly got dragged away by waves. As others screamed for help, the lifeguards pulled him to safety.

Shweta (21), daughter of Shivakumar Swamy of Electronic City near Bangalore, who too was on the beach, was also saved by the lifeguards. Sources said that she was annoyed after her uncle, in whose cloth shop she works in Bangalore, had scolded her. She arrived here without informing anyone and was trying to end her life. Now her parents have arrived from Bangalore to take her back.
