Bantwal: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Flags Off Literary Chariot

Bantwal: The Konkani Literary Chariot, which is in its second phase was flagged off at Modankaup Infant Jesus School premises by Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy on July 13. MLA Ramanath Rai inaugurated the chariot. After inauguration Rai spoke and stressed the need to include Konkani as one of the languages in schools of Coastal region. He also said that Konkani is one of the beautiful languages which was incorporated in the eighth schedule of the Constitution.

Kasargod Chinna, the President of Konkani Sahitya Academy informed the gathering that the chariot will supply books to the schools, and he also urged that the Konkani speaking students to sign up for Konkani as their third language. Roy Castelino, the convener said that there was a drastic need to conserve Konkani language to the future generation.

Maroor Laksnman Kamath, Academy Registrar Dr Devdas Pai and Convener of Education Institutions Fr Rocky D'Souza were also seen at the ceremony.
