Udupi: Talks about  wearing head scarf ( Hijab) by Muslim Women students inside the classrooms at Ramakunjeshwara PU college still continued on Tuesday, July 17, with a meeting convened by the college management and DK district Muslim Central Committee, failed to come to any conclusions.

The Central Committee President K S Mohammed Masood and office-bearers who held meeting with the management and parents said they have already contacted Pejawar Seer who is the honorary president of the college. But, since the Seer is in Chaturmasa vratha, he will be available for discussions on this matter only in the month of September. Hence there was a need to maintain status quo. However, the parents who opposed the move, failed to come to any consensus.

In the meantime, the leaders of Campus Front of India have threatened to intensify the protest, if Ramakunjeshwara First Grade College management fails to solve the row over scarf within 24 hours. According to sources, the CFI has warned the College management that they will fight until justice is done. Management is acting very irresponsibly by not heeding to the parents or students in this regard. India is a secular country, where one has freedom to follow religion of one's choice. Other institutions have no problems students wearing Headscarf, then why only in this college? Wearing head scarf in Islam is mandatory for women. So until the management, Mangalore University and also the police reach a conclusion and bring justice in this matter, the stir will continue, demanded CFI

It is a sad commentary to dwell on idiosyncratic behavior when millions of our brothers and sisters all over the world do not have enough to eat and proper shelter to live.
India is a secular country. People have the freedom of religion and speech as long as their behavior does not hurt their neighbor.

We live in a world which inhabits humans and animals. The transformation from animal form to the human form has taken, according to astrophysicists, biologists and anthropologists, millions of years. Unfortunately, some among us have not reached that stage.

What we have done for the last 6000 years or so is building walls among and between us to safeguard our narrow-minded self interest in the name of religion and empire building.

If possible, we should avoid behaviors which might become targets for attacks from those who are still struggling to become human. India produced two great leaders of humanity in
Gautama Buddha and Mahatma Gandhi, in addition to the epic figure Rama.

In India, the sole goal among people is greed and power. One of these days, hopefully, all of us would realize that all of us are humans and let us learn from each other “ to live and let live”.

True, the head scarf should be allowed. The sikh brothers are allowed to sport the beard and as well as wear the turban. No one protests against the sikhs, and definitely no should protest against the sikhs, as it is required by its religion. The muslim girls should also be allowed to wear head scarf. Now the question that some muslim girls do not wear the head scarf, then it is up to them as some sikh men too do not sport a beard nor wear a turban.
